I started reading this on Tapas. I purchased this thinking I might just continue where I left off there, only to find that specific things are playing out differently in this version.

I've done some digging and heard of a 'writer's camp version" that was apparently a shorter story which was adapted into the larger work.

What confuses me is, the current Tapas series says it started releasing in 2020, and this page, as well as the paperback, say they were published in 2022. More recently than either, the Tapas series finished its publication in May.

So what version is this? Is this a third rewrite? The writer's camp version? Is this version the work without Tapas interference? I can't make heads or tails of it, and I can't find the answer online.

Did Gilbert save Ian in the beginning and carry him away bridal style? Or did he ambush Ian in a dark alleyway and drag him across town?

Did Ian offer a drink to the man who threatened him at La Brume? Or did he run away?

These currently feel like very different stories.

If anyone has the answer, I would love to know. I'm willing to read both versions, but I want to know which one is more aligned with the author's vision.

Hello, VentingToACeilingFan, and thank you so much for your interest in Android Affection!

To answer your questions:

- The Writer's Camp version is currently not online nor available for sale, it's the first draft of Android Affection that won a prize in Tapas's 2018 writing contest. The Writer's Camp version will be released in the future under a different name to avoid any confusion, as the story is quite different from the current Tapas and eBook version, enough for it to be its own separate novel.

- The Tapas version of Android Affection contains more focus on Ian and Gilbert's relationship and less gritty elements.

- The eBook and paperback self-published versions of Android Affection are not affiliated with Tapas and contain a lot more horror elements - this is also only book 1, I will be releasing book 2, 3 and 4 in the future!

In terms of whether I recommend reading the Tapas or eBook version, I think it depends on your personal preference, the ending is the same in both, but the eBook/paperbacks contain more horror themes, whilst the Tapas web-serial is more toned down in that aspect.

I apologize for the confusion and hope this was helpful, feel free to ask if you have any more questions and I'd be happy to answer them! Thanks again for your interest in Android Affection, I wish you a wonderful day ahead! Cheers!
